Scan To CAD Level of Detail
Canvas CAD files are intended to be a “blank slate” of the structure scanned, such that you can easily use it as the starting point for your project.
3D CAD File Details:
- Walls, windows, and doors
- Staircases
- Baseboards, trim, and moulding
- Exposed framing, beams, columns, and kitchen islands
- Cabinets, countertops, casework, and built-in appliances
- Ceiling lighting, light switches, outlets, and HVAC vents
- Exposed pipes (except thin pipes of diameter below 2")
Canvas is capable of scanning and processing unfinished spaces, and CAD files will include exposed framing. Size, spacing, and positioning of framing is highly dependent on the quality of the scan and completely open framing can be challenging to accurately scan.
2D Floor Plan Details:
- Annotated dimensions for key elements
- Walls, windows, and doors (swing direction included)
- Floor-mounted casework, cabinetry, appliances, columns, fireplaces, kitchen islands, and steps
- Not included in 2D: Any objects above the plan view section plane (the section plane is an imaginary view cutting plane located 48" above the floor); electrical outlets and light switches
